We’re back at it again with another awesome episode of The Anxious Creative.
This week I’ve got my friend and student Jen Shattuck from Oregon coming to chat about moving across the country, learning new techniques and following your dreams.
She’s been in the hair industry for 14 years (a little longer if you count schooling). She had an amazing opportunity to start cosmetology education in high school. Before she took the class she could barely paint her nails or do makeup, she didn’t know anything about cosmetology!

Here’s a sneak-peek of what’s inside of this episode:
What sparked Jen’s interest in hair and what ultimately led her to where she is now
Her first 9 years in the industry and the comfort of routine (if hearing “cap highlights” makes you shudder this is a warning)
Jen’s move to Oregon and how she quickly adjusted to a lot of “new” (can you believe she’s only been doing foils for 5 years?!)
How the big move was the perfect opportunity for Jen
Her first job in Oregon and how it influenced what she does now
Jen’s advice for someone who’s ready to make a big change
Jen’s transition from employee to self-employed
What Jen loves about being a business owner
How anxiety can present differently for each of us
What changes Jen has seen in herself and her business since taking Rock Your Business
The value that comes with charging for consultations
How she’s said “not today, COVID” and turned 2020 into a successful year
Why it’s okay to do things differently
How Jen has allowed herself to dream again
How amazing is Jen? She’s accomplished so much for herself and I’m thankful I’ve been able to be along for part of her journey.
I’m so glad she was able to share her vulnerability with you in this episode.
If she’s inspired you with her story, go and send her a DM on the ‘gram, I know she’d love to hear from you.
I can’t wait to see what she does next!

I’m that girl who had no boundaries (in life and business) who eventually landed herself in the ER from a stress induced panic attack. I love nachos, hanging out with my pup, and spending the whole day with bedhead binging shows. My goal? To show others that you don’t have to be stressed out all the time, you can be lazy and super successful!
